California Trippin’ Vol. 2

So we stayed in Deerhoof and A Place To Bury Strangers ... A day after MBV shake, and a little away from the set of Baywatch (Santa Monica), just in bizarre Hollywood between Batmans (it's Hard To Be Batman), Spidermans with boners, wigs and old with kilos of makeup touched Deerhoof. The show, organized by the KRCW was in Avalon , a semi-den-like (chances are it has been) cincuentero film. It was a triple bill, the other two bands were about not as emetics Happy Hollows (deerwhores) and a disastrous and pathetic Okay who were a mixture of Daniel Johnston, and glockenspaniel Beirut-childish-retard-shit.

Deerhoof - Guru @ Avalon Eaguru

Deerhoof - Milk Man @ Avalon

And Deerhoof (fuckin 'A! !) was glorious despite being the first show of the tour Offend Maggie, that is, many of the songs were basically premieres and implementation ultra-duper-math flew overhead. Greg Saunier, the drummer, is barbaric and is further evidence that the languid drums are better than any dude ultra sucked. In addition to the new LP, there were songs Runners Four, the Milkman and I suppose other disks (hey! just do what I can, garbage !!!). snobish Ended very early and leaving were already formed the Cobra Snake shitheads to enter reveeeeennnn (César Costa: Gobball your sales !!!).

APTBS @ The Troubadour
Al

next day, had a good supply of bands. On one side was the Detour Festival, organized by LA Weekly , and David Byrne (with Brian Eno as hologram), on the other, (the U.S. Loudest band alive) A Place To Bury Strangers. The last played in Beverly Hills (you never knew when he went out Brenda or Brandon or freakin 'Steve !!!!! wuuuuuu!) In The Troubadour (never go with a bag of sweets, confused with lethal weapons). It was also triple bill. The first premises were playing In Waves and second combo Sian Alice Group. The latter boring at times, in some very epic to GY! BE .

APTBS @ The Troubadour

I like at about 10 pm (there are places where it exists timeliness) the APTBS had everything ready, straps, projection, pedals the Jazzmasters and showed that you do not need tons of equipment to achieve TOTAL SONIC ANNIHILATION authentic. A homeboy, Oliver Ackermann, cares little ears bleed if you do not have mercy on all, your attitude is a punk teenager who slam the Psychocandy. Throughout the period of the set, there was not a second of silence, and when tuned, always had feedback or drone of some sort. It was as if bent on discovering the brown note but sharp. For the latest songs set on the straps as a glorious tribute to Spacemen 3 and Missing You never came.

Oliver Ackerman

the end all the stage was surrounded by gearheads, pedalgeeks, bloggers seeking to understand all the chaos of wires and pedals capable of producing such piercing feedback that had been subjected.
Gearhead moment ...

The next week, The Black Angels played we all cried. To date I can not get these voices in my head that say, why do they come to me to die? Why do they come to me to die? (Hahahaha accept plagiarism super crappy of Buddyhead and Wayne's World ...)

Is A Sensitive Cervix A Sign Of Pregnancy

California Trippin' Vol. 1

My Bloody Valentine @ Santa Monica Civic Center

already spent more than a month and I'll pretend that this is one of those things that people call and magazines are printed every month ... Having said So, hey ho! let's go!

While in Mexico, recalled one of the worst mistakes of our history, Santa Monica was preparing to be literally shaken (again) by a wave of sonic destruction at its most pure. On October 2 was the last time (until now) of the reunion tour of My Bloody Valentine and was memorable (it was the most fucking artistic experience of my life ...).

Lookin 'good!

The area had a great landscape, the clear sky and bright sun, but (like the Weather Channel would indicate) with a sense heat about 15 degrees (mr. weatherman !!!), or cold. The Civic Center was normal, a couple of blocks from the beach and very clean, a simple auditorium with capacity for about 6 or 7 thousand people.

Santa Monica Civic Center

Once inside, you earplugs given away at the slightest provocation, in the bar at the merch in the bathroom ... nobody wanted to claim for destruction of ears, but after all, we would all that. The first to take the stage was Pete Kember (aka Sonic Boom that a couple of weeks ago played at the Mutek) with a drummer, a bassist and a Jason Pierce integrated inflatable chair.

The Spectrum pulled with a long version of Mar and (lighting and the layers were totally hypnotic) and followed classic fuckin ' Spacemen 3! There Transparent Radiation, How You Satisfy Me , Revolution version !!!!!, mind blowin 'in When Tomorrow Hits (the wah inflatable Jason Pierce was a drill) and Suicide . Sonic Boom appreciated at all times with his voice drenched in delay and just before the tribute to Martin Rev and Alan Vega , when it announced that it would be the last song he said something like "Enjoy What You've Waited for" ... shit! shit! shit!

At the end I felt like an idiot for having been on the side of Spiritualized and have done away with Sonic Baby Boom, but hey! never too late ... After this act of psych-hypno-treme-shit vomit was the point of the night, Miss Gemma Hayes . Within seconds he had built destroyed Kember, everything became a cursed Lilith Fair!

Bilinda Butcher

drink urine passed and almost an hour for Kevin Shields , Bilinda Butcher, Debbie Googe and Colm Ó Cíosóig break with all the bad videos mythical wave recorded, bootlegs, legends, memories, etc.. etc. Everything was perfect, the walls of amplifiers, the giant pedals, ls projections, lighting, just the conditions were the best, no better time for this meeting. They started

I Only Said and just after bang! When You Sleep . The sound was tremendous, PA super-powerful, all was a direct attack toward the audience, not just sonic, visual and physical also. It did not take the (classical) interaction of the band with the public, a pair of "thanks for coming" from an extremely shy Bilinda and Shields were sufficient. This "interaction" was another way, we were just privileged to be there, it was almost as if the band had given us the opportunity to enter their world for nearly two hours.

My Bloody Valentine @ Santa Monica Civic Center

There were several crashes (without this is a bad thing), a huge and fascinating was the expression of peace Bilinda as insane (from an elementary school teacher) with the waves of noise, as in To Here Knows When (one of the highest moments of concert). Close your eyes and you had all the evidence that it was all real but had a great ingredient dreamy, it is difficult to explain.

Before You Made Me Realise (mother of the Holocaust and guilty of all the legend about the live shows the band) Bilinda Shields thanked and said: "here comes the bomb" ... were almost 20 minutes of pure and exquisite noise, wave oscillators, low pitch. It was a big blast that literally I rattled, raising his hands to feel how moving your palms, cheeks, stomach, were at the epicenter of an atomic bomb.

is almost impossible to describe this part of the set, you can only understand when you are there, it's an experience that not only redefines the way in adopting the noise, it breaks the limits within which the music is the same act in vivo. The music enters our ears, moving feelings, impulses in the brain causes, but what happens when it finally materialized into something tangible. My Bloody Valentine has done it, it took years to do it, I doubt that the Holocaust have sounded like in 1991. Now have access to double or triple the PA, have professional sound engineer (at the end of the concert people congratulating him), total control of where they play and as the New York Times spent more than $ 366,000 worth of equipment (only in backline).

After the wave of noise came back with a beautiful precision to finish the song. They left their instruments and confound all, had been too, again, were privileged. It was a pure act, no paraphernalia, no cheap resources ... pure ART NOISE.

not expect this to remain so long, then a convenience to tell the rest of the trip in a second part (next month! hehe). Stay tuned for Volume 2 with Deerhoof and A Place To Bury Strangers !! Wahhhhhhh!

* thanks to explosions and ddkim for the photos. There were gorillas taking care not to take photographs (and well, the memory will only be in our heads).

26 Of Bacardi Coconut Cost

Get Andrew Kenny back!!!

Weeks have been intense for the bands that sometimes appear on this blog ... Where do you start? ooh yeah, once again the BSS camp! About a year ago, when Broken Social Scene Presents madness began and she was cooking Pitchfork.tv ("oh but when will the Hugo Sonorama's Basement?) The very underrated Canadian version of the combo visited the uber-country nationals of ("program?) Juan's Basement to give a very intimate presentation. So intimate that even Kevo Drewo switched to the battery (not strong) to this version of Stars and Sons :

BSS @ Juan's Basement
Stars and Sons

just today posted the first part of the series, plus an improvisation (with the mysterious man, manager, stage manager?, dude who always wears a white suit and is in all concerts Apostle of Hustle, highlights in hair, wtf, on drums) that shows the pure canadian flow.

Seeing these videos makes me think how much that helped keyboards Andrew Kenny (American Analog Set ) the combo. So Kevo and company pay attention: the Texan was carrying a bloody Rhodes, Moogs and other curiosities. When he was used to play every night Hard to Find and flying heads! Out of the band was one of the greatest stupidities have made!

Ni modes, no way ... the Irish My Bloody Valentine finally returned to America to destroy your ears. Sources close to Mr. Heart Attack claim their debut in Monticello, New York (in the ATP) was devastating. The same sources confirmed that the festival could play poker with Mr. Albini or gossip in the conversation Patti Smith and Kevin Shields himself, no more, no more!

On Thursday the U.S. tour ended the band, right in Santa Monica and how this blog is concerned about his readers, Mr. Heart Attack team will have all the details of the show. You may get deaf but hey! we still have our hands!

Women
(oh yes my shirt of Sunset Rubdown)

late last week arrived in my mailbox about a song called Canadian Women . The band is from Calgary, and are sponsored from the other Canadian Chad VanGaalen . The song is called Black Rice and according to them (and the label and all) the album was recorded in the basement, clinically dead, VanGaalen. The single grabs you right away, the hiss of the principle is simply enchanting. I love eating this lo-fi ! Download with a simple click here.
